Brilliant, Awkward Question

"Who are You, Lord? Saul asked." Acts 9:5a

Just like falling down can be humbling, answering your own question can be revealing, also. In a way, Saul does answer his own question, but there is more to it than that. The Lord, God is indeed who is talking to Saul, but more specifically it is the Lord Jesus, His Messiah that he has to answer to. Jesus is who Saul is persecuting. Jesus is who Saul must deal with and meet.

This scenario is not unlike many who believe in a Higher Power or a Supreme Being or the Man Upstairs, or God, but have never considered Jesus or a personal relationship with Him. Many church goin’, Bible readin’, Potluck lovin’ religious folks do not have a personal redemptive relationship with Christ. It is not automatic. We are not guilty by association. As the old saying goes, “Attending church does not make you any more of a Christian than standing in a garage makes you a car.” We must have a life surrendering experience that is sincere and heartfelt, that recognizes our need for salvation and expresses desire to follow Him with an accountable commitment. Salvation is free and easily accessible, but also life-changing and transforming. When God works in your life, be sure to remember; His forgiving grace, mercy and transforming power, in addition to His blessings.

So, here is my answer to Saul’s question, “Who are You, Lord?” You are Jesus, my Lord and Savior, King of the Universe, Creator of EVERYTHING, the Alpha and Omega, the Great I Am.
You are that and a thousand other things and more, which I don’t have enough words to say.

His,
Pastor Fred
