Perfect Love

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:35, 38, 39

The most important need we have as humans is knowing that we are loved. When this emotional need is met we can continue to grow and mature into the people that God had created us to be. At a Promisekeepers Conference I went to many years ago, I remember the keynote speaker talking about love and its viral impact it has on our development. The one key point he made was if a baby was denied love it would perish and die. (And this was based on a study done at an Ivy League School.)

As I worked in children, youth, and college ministry I saw time and time again people doing whatever it took to feel loved. Whether it was getting straight A's on their report card or being captain on the sports team, or doing unhealthy things to see and test if they were really and truly loved. As I shared this morning's passage with you, I hope you see the light bulb click on in your mind. Just like the Romans, we too, need to understand the empowering love that Jesus has for us.

This passage explains to us that not only is Jesus' love unconditional and limitless, but there is nothing in all this world or universe that will separate us from His love. His love for us will always be there and nothing in all creation can or will be able to separate us from Jesus and the love He has for us. Notice what Paul lists in the passage to illustrate the seriousness of Jesus is love for us. He tells us that angels, demons, death, life, the present, the future, or any powers can prevent us from the love of Jesus Christ. Take heart in knowing that you are and will forever be loved by Jesus. His love will be with you now and forever more. So, kick back and relax, and enjoy everything in your life knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ loves you, and we will always be able to rest and enjoy the warmth, the strength, and the power of His love forever.
