"They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins, and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as faith are concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone." 2 Timothy 3:6-9
This is another whole passage that needs to be shared on one devotional. "They" refers to those who have a form of godliness, but deny its power. Or, they are all talk, slick seducers, preying on those who are at risk and weak. Moses dealt with them, as is mentioned here, and we still deal with them today. Opportunists, snake oil salesmen, prosperity preachers, get rich quick schemers, magic potent vendors, and hot air specialists. You know the type. Guilt trip or tickle your fancy, they are shallow and misleading.
Best protection, especially if you are vulnerable, is to seek the counsel of wise advisors; longtime believers or humble servants of the Lord. They can let you know who the fakes and the fast talkers are, even if they sound so real and talk real slow. Be careful friends. There are wolves in sheep's clothing. Test the spirits. Don't be fooled. Beware. Worms are kinda creepy. Ask the Lord for wisdom and protection. Seek first the kingdom of God, not men or women.
Just trying to look out for us a little.
With His heart,
Pastor Fred
