Faithful in Every Way

"For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalm 100:5

I think we should be focusing more on faithfulness and the most common uses of this Christ-like character trait. We will look at work (the Faithful servant)–relationships (the faithful husband/wife or children)–and spiritual walk (the faithful follower). The opposite of these correct behaviors are difficult to consider but need to be addressed, the unfaithful worker; the unfaithful family member; the unfaithful believer.

What does it take to be faithful and what does it take to be unfaithful? When we are faithful we must be honest, respectful and selfless. When we are unfaithful we are deceptive, disrespectful and selfish. In our lives how we deal with faithfulness can either be a wonderful blessing or a horrible wound. All of us know of situations, (maybe some of us are going through this right now or have been through it before) where we are dealing with a lack of faithfulness issue with someone in some area of his/her life.

When we don't get our schoolwork done and are unfaithful to what we should be doing in school, it affects more than just us. When we don't work or are irresponsible with our finances, everybody else is affected. When we are untrue to one another and not committed to putting the family and God before ourselves, it affects everyone around us, especially those we love. Rather than trying to avoid unfaithfulness, and if we are currently involved in it, we must stop immediately, it is more effective to practice faithfulness. I would like to suggest three principles that we all sure could use in order to be faithful to each other and our work and to the Lord and to avoid the pain that unfaithfulness can bring.

  • Seriously, just do the right thing!-Just think how many problems that simple commitment and plan could solve.

  • Really, let’s really be there for each other!-It is so convenient and easy to avoid or ignore the signs of our unfaithfulness.

  • When someone is being faithful, praise God and appreciate him or her. Sometimes the rewards of faithfulness are so small that the false rewards of unfaithfulness can seem attractive.
  • In all of this, never forget that Jesus was faithful in His life, and He will help you do better at it in yours. He will never leave us or forsake us no matter what we have done.- Because He is faithful!

I pray that each member of our Grace Harbor family will reconsider what it means to be faithful and consider the consequences of being unfaithful. Be faithful in every arena of life, whether at home, at work, with friends or in our Christian walk. Pray for each other that we will have strength, God's protection, and insight in these areas that can have such a profound positive or negative effect on our own lives and each other’s too.

    Great is His Faithfulness,
    let’s work on ours,
    Pastor Fred
