Find Comfort in the Lord

"God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matt. 5:4 NLT

A dear friend who recently experienced the death of someone very close to her posted this scripture online. It seemed through this scripture that she was expressing her deep sorrow, but also her hope in the promise of comfort and peace through her faith in Jesus Christ.

As I thought about this promise, I remembered many other friends who are also mourning. Though we usually think of mourning being related to death, many other things can cause us to mourn.

A friend who is going through a divorce is mourning the loss of her husband and the fact that their family is no longer intact.

Other friends are mourning for lost jobs and homes; adult children who have walked away from their faith and families; being away from grandchildren whose families have moved out of the area.

You may be experiencing trials like these or others that feel too painful to bear.

But I encourage you to remain faithful, and ask the Lord to give you peace and joy. Romans 15:13 NIV tells us this is a scriptural request:

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

"And remember that while weeping may endure for a night, joy cometh in the morning." Psalm 30:5 KJV

I pray God's blessings for you, today and forever.

Comforted by Him,
Dolly
