Between the Lines

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God. The creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom." Isaiah 40:28

This is Isaiah’s response to the complaint that somehow God didn’t know what was going on and that He disregarded His people. Imagine Isaiah’s sharp reply with me phrase by phrase and the possible messages behind the words.

“Do you not know?” Ignorance is always our issue, not His. “Have you not heard?” We don’t share His blessings often enough. “The Lord is the everlasting God.” He was here before everything, is here now and will be after everything is gone. “The creator of the ends of the earth” He made it all, sustains it all, including countless things we haven’t heard and don’t know. “He will not grow tired or weary” regardless of our complaining, ignorance, misunderstanding, not listening, doubt, fear, shallowness, pride and rebellion. “and His understanding no one can fathom.” Trust me, He understands including the fact we don’t, even when we don’t get it, He’s got it.

This is how He spoke to me through his word today. Hope it blessed you as it did me.
