Following Angels

"Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision." Acts 12:9

The "him" who Peter was following was an angel. I have an easy piece of advice. You can trust angels. I know many of you may have not experienced angels, or are not sure whether you have or not. But, if you are sure, you can definitely trust them. We should definitely give more consideration to angels than we do. Angels have been popularized and at the same time need to be "demystified". Angels are real. Even though Peter was not sure that what was happening to him, was really happening, he still followed. It was an act of faith. We don't exercise our faith very often. We usually apply faith to a reality we have already experienced, and not to an event that we don't quite understand. Which means, we describe faith usually only after it has been 'factualized'. Remember the definition of faith from Hebrews 11. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen." This deep truth can help us understand that which is inexplicable.

When we consider the angelic realm or the supernatural dimension, it really stretches our thinking. In these arenas, we have to use our faith more than when we operate in the physical realm or the first and second dimensions. We don't often think very much about the "spiritual" world. It is very real and we probably should consider it more often. I think our tendency to be fascinated with "other worldly" things slows us down about thinking about the "real" supernatural world. Peter was ready to follow by faith. This is a lesson to be learned. Once we know it is God leading, then we must follow, even if that defies logic, common understanding, or the apparent facts.

I think we would experience the angelic realm more often and see visions more frequently if we followed God more closely. After all, the closer we are to Him, the closer we will be to what He is doing. We may say that we want to see what God is doing, but when we get close to things we don't understand, our faith is challenged. We will never see any or all of what God would show us unless we follow Him outside our comfort zones or into realms and dimensions that are spiritual. The "world" (that which is most obvious to our senses) would love to trap us there. But, we transcend that as we become more attuned to the larger understanding of His Kingdom work.

A simple closing caution: We should not allow our fascination with the supernatural take us out of the physical world too far. We also should not allow our fear of the unknown to trap us in the physical world. I hope you experience the fullness of your faith today in every dimension and realm God is in.

Supernaturally His,
Pastor Fred
