“You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2 Timothy 2-1-2
When we slow down the study of Scripture, even when we are making it into a devotional, there is so much that can be learned. Paul is so tenderhearted and personal with Timothy. Calls him son and encourages him to be strong. Strong in the grace of Christ Jesus. Wow, that is deeper strength. He then tells Timothy to teach the things that he has taught to many. Not every word he has ever said in passing, but the things he has preached when sharing the gospel. These things we should entrust to others who can then teach them to others. Teachers of the Word should teach others so they can teach. Sharers of the gospel should share with others so they can share. Lovers of the Word should share that love with others so they in turn can share the love of The Word with others. This is how the gospel is spread. This is how we remain strong. Teach, share and spread His Word, by His grace and also by His Word. God used many to entrust His Word to me. Pastors, authors, mentors and friends have entrusted truth to me and I now share it with you, so you will share it with others. Encourage others to be strong. The things of the faith that we share together as the family of God, these things now share with everyone.
Last thought…. when teaching others, or even sharing with them, encourage them also to be careful that we share the same truth. One truth, one faith, one hope…. Him, Jesus Christ. Remember this, Jesus does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
In His Service,
Pastor Fred
