On July 7, I received the following email from Franklin Graham:
On June 26, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states. “This is a defining moment for our nation”. Sin not only reigns but is now celebrated. Even the White House was proudly illuminated with rainbow colors the night of the ruling! This is a slap in the face of every Christian and it is only the tip of the iceberg. The rainbow is a promise from God, not a description of a lifestyle.
“Long before our government came into existence, marriage was created by Almighty God—the One who created man and woman. He is clear about the definition of marriage in His Holy Word: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24, ESV).
In the New Testament, Jesus reiterated God’s definition of marriage: “From the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife’” (Mark 10:6–7).
The court did not define marriage, and therefore it is not entitled to redefine it.
We read in the Scriptures how God judged Israel when they did not follow His laws. As a nation we have arrogantly turned our back on God, and I believe God’s judgment will come against our country. I don’t know any country on earth that has been more blessed than America, but it seems as though immorality not only reigns but is now celebrated”. When was the last time you heard of a political leader mention God? Our founders praised and consulted God on every decision they made. Could the droughts, fires and severe weather (flooding, tornados etc.) be our punishment from God for not obeying his laws? Have we lost God’s protection? It reminds me of the plagues that were heaped on the Egyptians when the Israelites tried to leave Egypt.
2 Chronicles 7:13-14: “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will forgive their sins and will heal their land”.
Let’s all pray for God’s forgiveness and renewed blessings for our great country.
In Him,
Ron Hodge
