How To Live

"Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus." 1Thessalonians 4:1-2

Not only should we live as though the Lord could come back today, we should also live like we have been instructed in the Word of God. When we do this it pleases God. Oh how I want to do that.... to please God. Good question for today would be to ask yourself.... how conscious are you of pleasing God are you on an ongoing basis? Does it cross your mind regularly that this life you have been given is yours for the very purpose of pleasing God. Our efforts and commitments to do so not only please Him, but glorify Him also. Whatever it is that you are doing, praise God for that. I am not at all knocking whatever it is that you are doing right now in your life to live for Him. But, just as Paul not only asked, but urged the Thessalonians to do, live for Him more. No matter what we are doing or not doing to please Him, we can do more. We can do it more often, more sincerely, with more intensity.

You know what to do, right? Aha..... here is the crux of the matter. We know generally what to do, and praise God for that. But, the more and more you study His Word, the more specifically and with more clarity will you know what it is that He wants you to do to please Him. The Bible is a wonderful gift from God. In it's pages are all the words needed to exercise our faith and practice. So we must read it, understand it better and pursue it more diligently. So just like Paul would say, let's praise Him for what we do, but seek Him earnestly for what more we can do.

The best part of the Christian life is when we move from doing what He asks to the point of doing it with the urgency that He asks us to do it with. Today I am trying to encourage you to love Him more, think of Him more, follow Him more closely and learn of Him more deeply. When we do this we will not only please Him more, but we, in turn will be more blessed.

In His Service and for His Purpose in all of our lives,
Pastor Fred
