"Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith." 1 Thessalonians 3:10
Constant and consistent prayer is the quest of every believer. We should strive to find that immediate and ever present connectedness with God. Every waking moment should be the opportunity to recognize and communicate with our Creator through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have just a few notes about this verse that came to me as I read it over and over.
1.) There is something about praying at night that is important. When we wake up in the night, it is an excellent time to pray as we fall back asleep.
2.) The ever-conscious daytime prayers are vital to keeping our heads out of trouble and our hearts where they should be.
3.) Paul is not talking about only himself praying, but of many others praying too, because he says 'we'.
4.) The attitude of prayer needs to be earnestness. Sincere, serious and honest prayer is what we desire.
5.) These particular prayers were for the opportunity to be together again. Praying for people is wonderful, being with them is even better.
6.) When we do have our prayers answered and are able to be together again, it should be for the purpose of blessing each other.
7.) We all need each other and should be sensitive to what each other needs. Whether encouragement, guidance or help, we should earnestly desire to be part of each other's lives in such a way that it builds up our faith.
As you face this day, take a moment or two to pray earnestly for those in Christ that you know, that they will have whatever is lacking and that if the Lord allows, maybe you could be part of supplying what they need. This is part of the definition of being The Body of Christ, His Church.
In Him,
Pastor Fred
