Through the Fire

"I am already being poured out as a drink offering…" 2 Tim 4:6

This verse is the one of the day from Oswald Chambers’ book “My Utmost for His Highest”. I have been reading it lately, as it was a Christmas present from Pastor Fred and his wife Dawn. In the devotion for this day, Chambers discusses how we as Christians should be ready to be “poured out” or used for God’s purposes and to accomplish His Will. This is often difficult for us as humans, but it will truly be an act of service and of our will to surrender to Him, and not just on an emotional level.

If we want to be His servants, we must be willing to go through the refining process of Him turning us into the kind of people we ought to be. As Chambers puts it, “You must be willing to be placed on the altar and go through the fire; willing to experience what the altar represents—burning, purification, and separation for only one purpose—the elimination of every desire and affection not grounded in or directed toward God.” We do not do this on our own strength, however, it is God Himself who will accomplish this process, if and only if we are willing. Are you ready to be made into what He wants you to be? Let’s do this, body of Christ!
