"The Lord takes His place in court; He rises to judge the people." Isaiah 3:3
Some of you will remember the phrase that is the title of the devotion. It was a comic spoof from the old “Laugh In” T.V. show that parodied the legal process with a silly judge character. Sometimes the legal system is mocked and the judicial process is made fun of, or even disrespected, but when God as judge takes His place in the court of judgment, it is guaranteed that justice will roll down.
Almost gives me the chills and thrills at the same time. I am in utter humble and awesome fear of my perfect God, and also relish the thought of Him straightening out the records. Once again, I am so thankful for His grace and mercy. Isaiah is God’s mouthpiece for His righteous judgment to come and we should never forget that it is only He who finally rules. Our judge is holy and He is faultless. When He takes His place there will be justice and when He rises, the people should fear. Oh how grateful we are that it is His Son Jesus who is our advocate, and who pleads our case. It is so easy to get caught up in this world’s system of jurisprudence, whether it is the law of the land, or the law of the court, or even “street law.” NO comparison to God’s righteous judgment. God rules. He reigns supreme.
Let us remember that it will be no joke when, for the last time it is announced, “Here Come Da Judge.” I, for one will be on my face.
Lord have mercy,
Pastor Fred
