"Grow Up"

"Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good." 1 Peter 2:2-3

When we are younger we so badly want to be older. We want to be 5 and go to school, we want to be 13 so we are teenagers, 18 so we are adults, 21 so we are completely legal, and 25 so we are completely grown up. Then it changes. Very few can’t wait to be 30, or 40, or 50, or 60. Then it changes again, and we either don’t care much or we celebrate any day we get, no matter the age.

You know of course, you gotta roll over before you sit up, crawl before you stand, waddle before you walk, and walk before you run, skip and jump. Most Christians don’t get enough milk and are malnourished. Before they dislike vegetables, and are not ready for meat, they try it. Such is life.

We must get our nutrients spiritually by earnestly desiring the milk of the Word. In many facets or our life we get ahead of ourselves and are ill prepared for what comes next, because our foundations are weak. We must study the Word simply; we must pray out loud before we preach and serve lots before even considering leading. Everything in due time. I must never forget how good the experience in the Lord tasted when I first partook. I must crave humility before I desire responsibility. We don’t understand better until we experience good.

Take time to grow up. It will make you more mature.
