It's for everyone

"And it shall come to pass afterward I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions." Joel 2:28 NKJV

When the cellular industry first began, it was mounted into cars and it was very expensive. And when they made the first portable cell phone, it was very expensive as well. Not only did these two phones cost thousands of dollars to buy, but the cost per minute was ridiculously expensive as well. At the time, it was thought and believed that only the extremely wealthy would be able to afford cell phones. But as we now know and have seen, is that cellphones are available and affordable for the general public.

Back when this passage of scripture was written, it was thought and believed that only very few and very select people would be able to personally experience the outpouring of the Spirit of God. In fact, people then thought that only the King and his court would experience this. However, Joel was a prophet and God had him share what he was planning to do. Little did they know, hundreds of years later, but God was promising that He was going to pour His Spirit out onto His people. And they would do amazing things with the Spirit, that He was going to fill them with. In fact, this prophecy was filled in Acts chapter 2, when His Holy Spirit filled the people who were there. He revealed Himself through a mighty wind, as His Spirit poured onto the people. And after they heard the Gospel being preached 3,000 came to Jesus Christ. Do you know what's exciting? According to our passage of scripture, God was going to fill each one of us with His Spirit. It didn't matter what our gender was or our age, as long as we loved Jesus, He would bless us with the filling of the Holy-Spirit. It's a promise that God is making to us. Notice what He says in our passage of scripture, He says, "I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT ON ALL FLESH...." He says not just some or a few, or people with red hair, or who are over six feet tall, NO He said "ALL FLESH!" So, we can embrace this and look forward to God giving us His Spirit and all the powerful gifts that come with it. We can use them to bring honor and Glory to God. Just as the original cell phone were for the select, and now it's available to everyone, the mighty and powerful Holy Spirit is now available to each and everyone of us - it just takes us having Jesus in our hearts. Let's embrace it, and let's turn our community on fire for Jesus, like they did at Pentecost.
