"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:2
For me, anything worth doing is worth doing right, so critical thinking about all the possible threats, weaknesses and outcomes is just part of the process. Others might see it as criticism. Some might even consider the drive for excellence simply as arrogance. This is why we must make every effort to bear each other in love.
We all get along better with certain personalities more than others, but in many ways we define ourselves by how we deal with those that really challenge us. Do you pretentiously look down on them? Treat them harshly, hoping they will go away? Are you impatient and unable to give a moment of your time? Maybe you just ignore them, run the other way or refuse to make eye contact. It’s just easier that way…right?
"He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way." Psalm 25:9
Every day there is an opportunity to recognize someone is doing their best, even if it is not up to your standards. Every day there is an opportunity for a word of praise before a request for improvement. Every day there is an opportunity to truly make an effort for unity. Every day there is an opportunity to say hello and sincerely ask how they have been.
May this be a blessing to you, Alan
