"Then the Lord said to me, ‘Go, I will send you far away to the Gentiles." Acts 22:21
After 20 verses of testimony and Paul telling everybody his whole story about who he was and is and all the details about he persecuted Christians and how he heard the Lord’s voice and Jesus Himself spoke to him on the road to Damascus. He talked about rejection and praying in the temple and Stephen’s martyrdom. As soon as he brings up the message going to the Gentiles, this Jewish crowd turns on Him.
Basically saying, “All of what you say may be true, but if you are saying that Gentiles be included, then you need to die.” Sounds pretty racist, huh? Can you imagine, racism against Gentiles? Wow, amazing how history turns its pages across the centuries. Anyways, who would have thought that this was the last straw? Is there anybody not welcome in your church? Is there a type of person you would walk out of church if you saw them there or threaten to stone the pastor if he welcomes them? Interesting question…What is your final straw when it comes to change? Paul was so willing to roll with God’s unfolding will and sometimes we are so unwilling to budge on our own opinions.
See everybody in church I hope!
Pastor Fred
