More Yes!

"But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No”. For the Son of God Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not “Yes” and “No”, but in Him it has always been “Yes”.  For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the Glory of God." 2 Corinthians 1:18-20

Paul wanted to visit Corinth more than he could. He tried to stay true to his promises. Just as our Lord is always faithful and keeps His promises. We live in a culture of both permissiveness and of restrictedness. We tend to be permissive and restrictive to a fault. How can we be Good News “Yes” people with positive attitude without being overly tolerant of the creeping decadence that is so prevalent today? I think it is as simple as this. We need to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative and don’t mess with Mr. Inbetween. Let our “Yes” be “Yes” and focus on that… and let our “No” be No”. We want to promote liberty without licentiousness and discipline without legalism. Bible says for example that there is no law against the trait of the spirit. So why not promote love, joy, peace, hope, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, patience, and self-control. Promote good works instead of focusing on bad behavior. Our entertainment industry thrives on misbehavior and that must be offset with much reinforcement of good behavior. Gotta feel ya though. Some folks just love the “No” attitude. We sure teach it to our kids young. “No” “No” “No”, we wonder why they say it so much? Yes we do. So I say let’s spread that which we are free to do without limitations. The light will overtake the darkness before we beat the darkness into submission light is the answer. Yes to the light. Yes to Jesus. Yes to the Good News. Rather than rush hell with a squirt gun, lets lead people to the fountain where they will find living water.

"Yes!",
Pastor Fred
