Solomon also has wise advice for neighbors. It seems over recent decades that we have become less and less connected with our neighbors, and our neighborhoods. This may be truer in bigger towns than smaller. We always get closer during emergencies or crises, but we may be missing out on something day to day by not developing friendships with our neighbors. Solomon shares how to make sure you have good neighbors.
- Do not put off helping your neighbor. (Pro 3:27-28)
- Do not devise evil against your neighbor. (Pro 3:29)
- Do not go into your neighbor’s wife. (Pro 6:29-35)
- A hypocrite destroys his neighbor. (Pro 11:9)
- Do not despise your neighbor. (Pro 11:12; 14:21)
- Do not envy your neighbor. (Pro 12:26)
- Do not scorn a poor neighbor. (Pro 14:20)
- Do not entice your neighbor. (Pro 16:29-30)
Gotta share this. Here are the words to Mr. Rogers lovely song. “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood a beautiful day for a neighbor Could you be mine, would you be mine? It’s a neighborly day in this beauty wood, a neighborly day for a beauty. Could you be mine, would you be mine? I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you. I have always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you. Let’s make the most of this beautiful day, since we’re together, might as well say, ‘Would you be my, could you be my, won’t you be my neighbor.’”
Christians should be the best neighbor, don’t you think?
