Stand Firm

"You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.'" II Chronicles 20:17

Every day is a new day, a new battle. For some of us, we may battle addiction or loneliness. We may battle the pressure of our peers to do what we know is wrong but we desire to be accepted and loved so we compromise our Christian values. We may have physical limitations that we battle daily as we try to live a normal productive life or we may battle the temptation of entering into a dating relationship that we know is not pleasing to God. The list could go on and on.

The point is each and every day we wake up to a new day and a new challenge to do what is right in the eyes of God. Nevertheless, because the enemy knows our weakness, he will continue to challenge us and cause us to fight with what we know is right in the sight of God and causing us to battle what we desire.

Let’s be real… this is really hard and not a whole lot of fun! :o) But it will be alright because we’ve got God on our side.

In this morning’s passage of scripture, King Jehosaphat was told two large armies (Moab and Ammon) were coming against him. He was alarmed and he turned to the Lord. And the Lord gave these instructions to the King. The King followed God’s instructions by standing firm, taking up his position and he saw the deliverance of his people from the vast army marching against them.

We too can have victory in the daily battles that we face. We just follow God’s instructions, take our position in Jesus Christ, stand firm against every lie and scheme of the enemy, and take comfort that we will not be fighting this battle ourselves. God will fight for us and through us via the Holy Spirit. So, let’s do what the passage tells us. Do not be discouraged and do not be afraid. Let’s go out tomorrow, face our challenges, and let the Lord be with us and remember we’re not fighting this battle but God is through us. So relax and let God do His work through us.

Relaxing in Him,
Pastor Rick
