"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5-6
I use to work for a cellular phone company and it was an amazing experience. It was the most intense, stressful but most rewarding job that I have ever had outside of my ministry.
We were pushed to be totally productive and we had so many variables that we were graded on and our job performance was based on. What kept us being productive was the network of computers. As long as they were functioning the way they were supposed to, we were able to meet the variables that our job performance was based on, but once they crashed, we could not meet the objectives the company had set for us.
For us as Christians, the same is true. For us to be totally productive and making a huge impact in the world we live, we must stay connected to Jesus Christ. The symbolism of a vine and a branch is so appropriate. Why? Because it’s the vine that provides nourishment and life to the branch. If the branch is not connected to the vine, it will wither and die.
In this same manner for us, if we become disconnected from Jesus, we will dry up spiritually and out spiritual man will be dead and very unproductive. It is so very true, when we stay connected to Jesus, the Holy Spirit will flow through us and empower us to many incredible things for Jesus Christ. Everything we set out to do in the name of Jesus and by His power, we will be totally successful and fruitful.
For us to remain in Christ we must: believe that He is God’s Son; receive Him as Savior and Lord; do as God says for us to do; continue to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ and lastly relate and show love to the community of believers known as the body of Christ.
So let’s work on staying connected to our Vine, Jesus Christ, so that our branch, our spiritual body can remain nourished and strong and able to do anything and everything for Jesus Christ, and be totally successful and productive.
