Clasp and Worship Him

"Suddenly Jesus met them. 'Greetings.' He said, and they came to Him, clasped His feet and worshiped Him." Matthew 28:9

Can't even imagine what this would have been like, where my head is at today. Jesus was dead, buried, and gone, and reports of His Resurrection are just beginning to swirl. Then, out of nowhere, Jesus suddenly meets up with some of the believers and somewhat casually says, 'Greetings'. He had come back from the dead. Dead for sure, too. They had seen or heard firsthand that He had been nearly beaten to death, then crucified and hung on the cross to die in agony. Some had actually heard His words as He died and now He is saying 'Hey!' What a shocker!

Have you ever thought or even known someone had died, was gone for sure and then found out they weren't? I have known a few that were brought back, my Dad for one, but not buried for three days. Nobody was thinking about the possibility of His Resurrection much when it happened. Of course, after it does they remembered and understood that it was just like He said.

So how do they respond? The first time my Dad died and was brought back, I remember the moment of connection we had and how I touched him and hugged him and looked deeply into his eyes. I can still hear his first words and feel the grasp of his hand in mine. I was so grateful and so glad. Can you imagine how the Disciples felt? Or His mother? But then something more happens. It is not just a friend or family member, or son or brother who came back to life 2,000 years ago. It was The Messiah. The Great I Am. The Son of God. The Christ and Savior of the World. So they did what they should do, they fell at His feet, clasped His feet and worshiped Him. Now, that would have been amazing to experience. But you see, we still can do this today! We can worship the Risen Christ today. Every time we gather, we in essence clasp His feet and worship Him. I hope your first response to Jesus is that of worship and not your personal laundry list, or top three issues. I am guessing not many words were said as they clung to Him. Don't you know He touched their heads and smiled and looked in their eyes? We get really close when we worship Him.

Maybe one of the reasons you may be having a difficult time getting close to Him today is because you simply need to clasp His feet and hang on in humble adoration for awhile. Give it some thought, and picture it happening and see how it feels. Take my word for it, if you would.... 'It feels really, really good.'

Clasping His feet,
Pastor Fred
