"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things" Philippians 4:8
Truthfully, this is a struggle, for us all. Controlling our words and actions seems tough enough, but most importantly, we need to control our thoughts. Herein lies the real issue of "control." You see, what we put into our minds determines what comes out in our words and actions.
In this particular passage of Scripture, Paul tells us to program our minds with thoughts that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent & praiseworthy. I know there are many times when we have problems with our thoughts and daydreams that seem to run wild on their own. We need to examine what we are putting into our minds, whether it be through TV, online, books, conversations, movies or even magazines. We need to strive to replace all the harmful input with wholesome material. It may seem silly, but this is the first step to finding a solution to this problem that leaves us vulnerable to impurities in so many different aspects of our lives.
Above all, we need to be in God's Word and praying, at least daily. We can ask God to help us focus our minds on what is good and pure. This definitely takes a lot of practice, but it can be done!
