"If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel. It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed."
Boom. This is so pointedly truthful. In two sentences Peter makes it totally clear that he sees through the pretense and phoniness, the ridiculousness and the trumped up charges and then exposes what is really going on, just by stating the facts, succinctly, "matter of factly" and with no nonsense. He got to the point, without belaboring it. What Peter said was irrefutable.
Nothing like the facts and truth combined to make sure you are clear. Peter really knew what he was talking about. When we speak, we should also know what we are talking about and know who we are talking to and know where we are going with what we are saying. Of course he is still speaking full of the Holy Spirit and is allowing God to speak through him.
Oh how I wish at crucial times in my life I had spoken so clearly and with such truth instead of ranting on and on about what I was trying to say. Are you guilty of unnecessary theatrics or drama in order to make your point? Peter often suffered from foot in mouth disease, but here he speaks from his heart as it is surrendered to Christ and therefore speaks accurately and effectively.
Take note everyone. You can speak the truth with so much more power if your intentions and your attitude are subjected to the Lord. We have much to learn about this.
In His Grip Today,
Pastor Fred
