"Anyone who does not listen to Him will be completely cut off from among His people." Acts 3:23
This verse is really bothering me this morning. Peter is continuing to quote parts of Deuteronomy 18. In that chapter Moses is laying down the law about listening and what happens when we don't. Here, Peter reiterates this principle of disobedience.
See, he isn't just talking about not listening, he is talking about defying God. The Words of Jesus are God's Word, and they must be heeded. When we turn a deaf ear, or practice selective hearing with God, we are playing with fire. Maybe literally.
If completely cut off eventually means going to hell that is serious business. It is forever. If God is talkin to you, listen up. It is serious business, with immediate and eternal consequences. Don't get yourself cut off in the moment or certainly not in the big picture. Listen to the Lord. He speaks through His Word, through your circumstances, through wise counsel, through nature, through prayer and in the quiet moments when nobody else and nothing is distracting and He whispers your name
Listen, instead of being cut off, be embraced. Run to His arms instead of pulling away. Listen attentively, instead of selectively. What He has to say is of paramount importance. Think about it, completely cut off or totally embraced. You choose.
Lord Hold Me,
Pastor Fred
