"MATH"

“Mercy, peace and love be multiplied to you.” Jude 1:2

Church ministry is not unlike Math. There is addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. Jude (the brother of James,
both half-brothers of Jesus) writes a one chapter epistle, which is the source of a few devotions in coming days

In verse 2 he sends his blessing of multiplied mercy, peace and love. Indeed, these blessings all seem to feed each other and definitely add to one another. Mercy, peace, and love never subtract or divide. In every ministry I have served I have seen multiplication and division and addition and subtraction. In the ministry I am currently serving we are experiencing lots of addition, a little subtraction, some multiplication, and even a little division. These numbers represent the lives of real people and their families, and are never just numbers. But, the statistics are compelling.

Both Grace Harbor Church and School are growing. What a blessing! Although I must admit the growing pains are sometimes challenging. Growth is God’s plan and it doesn’t usually happen directly through division and subtraction. But, sometimes it is necessary to get the formula or equation turned around.

I pray today that I added to your blessings, even multiplied them. Also, that I did not divide or subtract. Whatever we do, we should do it in a spirit of His love. Humbly and thankfully for His purpose.

In His service,
Pastor Fred
