What Seeds are We Sowing?

Our Friday Devotion comes to us from Council Member, Kim:

"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:2

Though it is impossible to control the circumstances and situations that occur in our lives, we have absolute control as to how we respond to those situations. At the end of the day, many unexpected situations and circumstances may hit our life, but what speaks to the wisdom in a person is how they respond, not how they react to those difficult situations.

As it relates to God’s system of reaping and sowing, the process works the same spiritually as it does in the physical system of nature. Whatever seeds are sown will result in development and growth of the same within the Sower. Therefore, if apple seeds are planted/sown, the end result is an apple tree. If peach seeds are planted/ sown, the result is peaches. Now let’s associate that to our lives, if we plant love, understanding, kindness, financial blessings, encouragement, and a spirit of forgiveness, then so shall we reap those same blessings in our life. However, should we sow anger, unforgiveness, mean-spiritedness, criticism, ridicule, and argumentative natures with others, Then so shall we reap those same behaviors. Very simple.

Keep in mind, God does not want us to do things for others simply because we're looking for something in return. We are to give freely, from our hearts, because it's the right thing to do. From time to time people will come into our lives that will help us grow and reach our full potential. These are people that God has placed in our lives for us to help along. We never know who they are, what they will look like or when we will encounter them. That's OK, none of that matters. It's about our response to them; "what" we do and "how" we react to them. What we should do is step out and sow the seed. Sadly, some of us will, others won't.

Holding on to JESUS
Kim
