As we continue hearing the blessings of the righteous, the question could cross our minds that asks, “So the life of the righteous is always smooth, easy and trouble free, right?” Wrong! While it is true that we are blessed beyond measure, we still live in a broken, sinful world. We too, ourselves, still have an old sin nature and broken people in a broken world equals brokenness. Though it is not perfect, it is improvable. We can make a difference. Things change, people can be transformed, miracles happen and God intervenes. So we have hope. I think a bigger question for us might be, “Does all of life have to be uphill?” No it doesn’t. When we remember who we are and whose we are we can be grateful. Gratefulness, probably the first step towards actualizing the blessings of the righteous.
1. His thoughts are right. (Proverbs 12:5)
2. His house will stand. (Proverbs 12:7)
3. He regards the life of his animals. (Proverbs 12:10)
4. The righteousness of the righteous yields fruit. (Proverbs 12:12)
5. He speaks truth. (Proverbs 12:17)
Simple truths but so true. I know it from experience. I just spent 15 minutes encouraging a man I just met named Richard, who was too inebriated to receive much counsel. But a hot breakfast, a bible and a prayer seemed to bless him. I think just dignifying him by listening to his disjointed story (no pun intended) was maybe the best thing I did for him. Richard knows the Lord, but a handful of circumstances and poor choices have compromised his access to his blessings. Pray for him today. So easy to look the other way. Good grief, if we are to regard the life of our animals, shouldn’t we care about human beings? I am speaking truth, thinking right and hopefully that yields fruit. We plant seeds, right? Amen!
In Him,
Pastor Fred
