Drifting

"We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it." Hebrews 2:1

Christ is above everything. We must pay the most careful attention to that.

This is one of those passages that means so much more when we understand what the 'therefore" is there for. The previous verses, in the previous chapter, refer, to Christ being above the angels, about what He has done, and what angels can only do if He says so. In today's world, we can easily drift away from what He has said and start believing all kinds of things. We absolutely have to stay centered in Him and His Word in order not to get swept away, or just slowly drift away, via our thoughts, feelings, ideas, fears and assumptions. I have but one sure thing, and that is Him. He is supreme, He is my King. I am committed to Him. "Angelic things" can be so attractive. They are beautiful, seductive, momentarily satisfying, ego building, 'above it all' and magnetizing. Sometimes our enemy can make what we shouldn't think or do, so attractive. He can also trap us into thinking what we are doing is ok, too.

Today, I am trying not to drift and am paying very careful attention to Him. Thank you Lord for always meeting me here and reminding me every time, that you are the most important thing.

With Hope Again,
Pastor Fred
