Suffer Together and Rejoice Together

"If on part suffers, every part suffers with it, if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ and each one of you is a part of it." I Corinthians 12:26-27

The apostle Paul wrote this passage of scripture in his letter to the Church of believers in Corinth. During this period of history, the Christian Church was wrestling with people wanting to be the center of attention and looked at as being better than the next person based on their spiritual gifts, knowledge of scripture and various duties with the Church.

Paul used the analogy of the human body to help them learn and understand that just as each part of the human body must function as one so as to be able to move and live, so then must the Church body learn to function as one so it too could thrive and grow and reach people for Jesus.

Today’s passage of scripture reminds us of the importance of taking care of each other. Within our Church body we are many; with many different challenges and victories as well. As the body of Christ, we need to be aware for those who are suffering and needed to reach out and encourage them and do what is needed so they know they are not alone during this period of suffering. By standing with them in prayer and in support, you help to give them the strength, courage and hope to persevere and to overcome the challenges that are causing their suffering.

Likewise, when there are those who are honored and excelling in their lives, we rejoice and praise God for this blessed fortune that they are having. We must always keep in mind that we are the "Body of Christ" and each of us is a "part of IT". So let us not allow the world to distract us and cause us to forget that. Each and every one of us has a vital part in the Body of Christ, and we must be open and obedient to the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit in how we are to stand with and encourage our other brothers and sisters in the Lord and the parts that they play within the Body of Christ.

Be blessed this day, and receive and rejoice with all that God has for you!

Yours in Him,
Brother Rick
