Proverbs for Everyone (Part 1)

Solomon not only addresses specific audiences with his proverbial wisdom, he also speaks to everyone. That is true even when addresses a specific group, because wisdom is general truth and all scripture is good for teaching sound doctrine. But the next twelve devotionals will share the proverbs that are for everyone by design. Hope many apply to you as needed. I have added the number of times it is shared after the initial reference.

  1. Fear the Lord. (Pro. 1:29) +14 times
  2. Do not be selfish or greedy. (Pro. 1:19) +3 times
  3. Seek counsel. (Pro. 1:25) +15 times
  4. Guard your tongue. (Pro. 1:30) +14 times
  5. Be truthful. (Pro. 3:3) +12 times
  6. Trust God. (Pro. 16:20) +5 times
  7. Be a good steward. (Pro. 3:9)
  8. Honor the Lord with your substance. (Pro. 3:9)
  9. Do not envy. (Pro. 3:11) +9 times
  10. Withhold not the good due to others. (Pro. 3:27-28)
I noted how often Solomon reminded us to seek counsel (15x), guard our tongues (14x), and Fear the Lord (14x). I know how often I advise this to people. The human heart and its weaknesses and tendencies have been the same since the Garden of Eden. They are no different today. We are foolish by nature and wise by choice.
Choose again today with me,
Pastor Fred
