I know many believers who tell me they read Proverbs regularly or often and many others who know they should. God’s plan was for Solomon to be used to write them. We suffer too much from wrongheadedness today. Wisdom is the cure. But we must swallow it.
- Teach others. (Pro. 10:31)
- Speak wisely and well. (Pro 10:11)
- Do not cheat. (Pro. 11:1)
- Win souls. (Pro. 11:3)
- Do not be a hypocrite. (Pro. 11:9)
- Use good words. (Pro 12:14)
- Seek Peace. (Pro. 12:20)
- Do not be a talebearer and thus separate friends. (Pro. 17:9)
- Be prudent. (Pro. 12:16)
- Be kind. (Pro 16:24)
I am overwhelmed again by this next ten Proverbs. These very matters are at the center of many wounds, conflicts, misunderstandings and hurtful situations that I am aware of right now. In our families, in our ministries and in every other arena of relationships I see the enemy’s attack through un-teachable spirits, poor choices of words, unfairness, lack of witness, hypocrisy, crassness, troublemaking, triangulating, imprudence and meanness. Wow… ugly list huh? Satan wants to destroy unity wherever he can. We must resist with love, forgiveness, mercy, peace, grace and hope. Whether you are victim or perpetrator or both, seek Him on your face with me. He is at work among us and the enemy is busy spreading grief.
Lord heal us,
Pastor Fred
